The figures are finally in! Yesterday we talked about the pure madness that sparked following the opening weekend sales for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and today we’re going to take a look at the official numbers and what they mean for Apple and the average consumer.
Well, it’s official! The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are a massive success as they are the company’s largest selling mobile phone device in the opening weekend. The California-based company announced yesterday, September 22, that it sold more than 10 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones on their opening weekend alone. This is the most they’ve ever sold in an opening weekend ever since Apple launched.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook, released a short statement announcing the official figures. He added:
Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend and we couldn’t be happier.
Compared to two years ago when Apple sold around 9 million iPhone 5 and 5C models, it seems that Apple is not only doing alright, but it’s doing great, even better than what people predicted.
You have to keep in mind that these amazing figures are limited to the global market, minus China. Apple was forced to delay sales in the Asian country, until the country’s regulators approve the new devices. Had China had its doors open for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus this past weekend, we might have seen something even more spectacular in terms of sales.
Cook continued to say:
While our team managed the manufacturing ramp better than ever before, we could have sold many more iPhones with greater supply and we are working hard to fill orders as quickly as possible.
Have you been one of the 10 million people who purchased an iPhone over the weekend? If you are, please share your thoughts on the new smartphone in the comment section below. We love hearing from our readers.
